K2 is searching for a Clinical Research Navigator for our Maitland clinic and the external sites it supports.

Description:

As a Clinical Research Navigator, you will play a vital role in connecting patients with research opportunities, facilitating their participation in clinical trials, and supporting the advancement of medical knowledge through integrating clinical research as a care option within clinical practice. Your responsibilities include guiding patients through the research process, addressing their concerns, and coordinating with the research team to ensure a seamless experience. This includes conducting pre-screening, chart reviewing, patient follow-up, trial matching, facilitating education, and ensuring smooth coordination between patients and research clinics or other resources. The role is based out of our clinical partnership’s offices.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Engagement: Identify eligible patients within the internal medicine practice who may benefit from clinical research. Educate them about the benefits, risks, and requirements to promote informed decisions.
  2. Prescreening: Conduct pre-screenings to assess eligibility, gather medical information, and coordinate with the research team.
  3. Chart Reviewing: Review patient medical records to identify research opportunities and ensure accurate documentation.
  4. Patient Follow-up: Maintain contact with enrolled patients, update them on study progress, and address concerns, building trust and rapport.
  5. Trial Match: Collaborate with research teams to match patients with suitable trials, considering their medical history, preferences, and availability.
  6. Coordination: Facilitate appointment scheduling, transportation, and documentation to ensure seamless participation.
  7. Resource Referral: Connect patients with additional resources such as support groups or educational materials.
  8. Compliance and Ethics: Uphold ethical guidelines, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to GCP standards.
  9. Documentation: Keep detailed records of interactions, activities, and outcomes.
  10. Communication: Maintain effective communication with clinic staff and participate in clinic activities.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Self-directed with problem-solving skills; able to work independently.
  • Professional, organized, compassionate, and customer-focused.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical research principles, procedures, and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex medical info clearly.
  • Detail-oriented with multitasking and prioritization skills.
  • Empathetic approach to patient care, able to build rapport and trust.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Committed to professional development and staying current with research advancements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field (preferred).
  • Experience in clinical research or patient navigation (highly desirable).
  • Knowledge of clinical research methods, protocols, and regulations (e.g., FDA, ICH-GCP).
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage with patients, physicians, and staff.
  • Empathetic, patient-centered approach.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems and clinical software.
  • Ability to interpret medical terminology and records.
