Job summary

The Clinical Research Assistant supports clinical, patient-oriented research within the Department of Anesthesiology at Columbia University. The position reports to the Principal Investigator (PI) with accountability to the Department Administrator and will organize day-to-day study activities, including the ALPACA study and other sponsored projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant experience required.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a deadline-driven environment.
• Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred within 3 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Recruitment, screening, enrollment and follow-up with study participants.
• Communicate with clinicians, sponsors, and research staff to support trials.
• Data entry including PHI and clinical data.
• Maintain clinical research files and documentation.
• Prepare data reports and perform periodic audits.
• Ensure compliance with safety and ethical standards.
• Coordinate team meetings and sponsor visits.
