Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is hiring a full-time Clinical Research Assistant for the HEALthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD) study. The role involves consenting participants, coordinating visits, and running behavioral assessments, EEGs and MRIs with infants and young children.
Qualified candidates will have excellent multitasking, organization, and communication skills, and experience with pregnant people or young children.
The HEALthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD) Study at OHSU is conducting studies with pregnant people and their children in the areas of neurodevelopment, behavior, learning, environmental factors, substance exposure, and cognitive functioning under the direction of Principle Investigators, Alice Graham, Ph.D. and Elinor Sullivan, Ph.D. We have an opening for an energetic and highly motivated full-time Clinical Research Assistant. Duties for this complex study will include consenting participants, visit coordination, and running data collection visits with participants. Data collection will focus on behavioral assessments of infant and early childhood development, electroencephalograms (EEG) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with infants and young children, biological sample collection and questionnaire measures. Duties include preparing, processing, and cleaning materials needed for each research visit, filing, copying, data processing and other general duties in support of the goals of the study. The candidate will also attend weekly laboratory staff meetings with the PIs and senior staff members.
Essential qualifications include multi-tasking, dependability, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced, timely manner. Skilled at oral, email, and written communication. Previous experience working with pregnant people, infants, or young children as well as experience conducting behavioral assessments, MRIs and/or EEGs is desired. Intermediate computer experience with Word and Excel is preferred. Interest in mental health, health care, and substance use treatment desired. Data collection occurs frequently during the evening and on weekends so the candidate will be required to perform weekend and evening work to complete the study’s goals.
