The Clinical Opportunity Development department leads Banner Health’s clinical registry abstraction utilizing an AI-assisted Platform. The department manages the full lifecycle of registry reporting — abstraction, QA validation, inter-rater reliability, and submission — across 16+ registries including NSQIP, CathPCI, GWTG Stroke, and Cancer COC, ensuring Banner maintains its hospital certifications and mandatory state and federal reporting obligations. Beyond compliance, the department returns national benchmark performance data to care teams, physician leaders, and nursing leadership to drive clinical quality improvement across the system. It also oversees national rankings strategy (U.S. News, Leapfrog, CMS Stars) and outcomes intelligence to position Banner’s clinical performance against peer institutions.
The Clinical Registry Reporting Specialist responsibilities include turning raw clinical documentation into reportable data that puts Banner Health’s outcomes on the national stage- then watching the same data flow back to the surgeons, cardiologists, and nurses who can act on it to improve patient care.
