The Clinical Quality Specialist, also known as Peer Review Specialist, will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of clinical care across our Centralus Health, a five-hospital system with 90 ambulatory clinics. This position demands a highly skilled and autonomous clinical professional who can independently coordinate and conduct peer reviews, analyze clinical outcomes, and identify opportunities for improvement. The Peer Review Specialist will promote best practices and mitigate clinical risks, working closely with healthcare providers to foster a culture of continuous improvement. This role requires a proactive individual with strong clinical evaluation capabilities, excellent analytical skills, and effective communication skills.

Roles And Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate Peer Review Process: Organize and facilitate peer review meetings, ensuring timely and thorough evaluations of clinical cases.
  2. Clinical Case Analysis: Review and analyze clinical cases to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
  3. Documentation: Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of peer review activities and outcomes.
  4. Collaboration: Work closely with peer review chairs and medical directors/medical officers to ensure collaboration throughout the peer review cycle; ensure Medical Staff Office compliance; collaborate with healthcare providers and staff to implement recommendations.
  5. Teaching and Coaching: Develop and deliver training to enhance staff understanding of peer review and clinical risk management; provide ongoing coaching.
  6. Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and hospital policies related to peer review and risk management.
  7. Reporting & Data Analytics: Prepare and present reports; utilize metrics and dashboards to track program effectiveness; analyze trends to drive quality improvement and patient safety.
Required Skills And Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a clinical field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in clinical risk management, peer review, or related healthcare area; or 3 years as a clinical nurse specialist or in clinical quality.
  • Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills; proficiency in data analysis and reporting; familiarity with healthcare regulations.
  • Certifications: CHRM or CPHQ required; candidates without these must obtain them within two years of employment.
Physical Requirements
  • Sedentary work: Occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds of force; primarily sitting, with occasional walking and standing.
Location and Travel Requirements
  • Hybrid/In-Person: Approximately 80% remote, 20% on-site.
  • Travel: Required within Centralus Health locations; flexible hours for meetings and training.
Pay Range Disclosure
  • $75,000 to $90,000 per year
