Job summary

Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage is seeking a Registrar to abstract trauma data from medical records for entry into the Alaska Trauma Registry. You will support report generation and data validation to drive injury research, quality improvement, and enhanced trauma care.

Under the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Medical Director, you will help monitor trauma system elements and coordinate multidisciplinary efforts to optimize patient care.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited/approved school of Nursing.
  • Alaska RN license upon hire.
  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.
  • National Provider ACLS - American Heart Association upon hire.
  • National Provider PALS - American Heart Association upon hire.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) and Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) and Stop the Bleed Instructor within 1 year of hire.
  • Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN) within 1 year of hire.
  • If hired as Lead Registrar-Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS) within 3 years of hire.
  • 2 years of recent nursing experience in one or more of the following areas: Emergency Department nursing; Critical Care nursing, medivac, Pediatric Intensive Care nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Abstract trauma data from medical records for entry into the Alaska Trauma Registry.
  • Support report generation and data validation programs.
  • Collaborate with Trauma Medical Director and Trauma Program Manager to monitor trauma system elements and optimize patient care.

Description

Under the general direction of the Trauma Program Manager, the registrar is responsible for data abstraction from the medical records of appropriately defined trauma patients for entry into the Alaska Trauma Registry. Registrar additionally supports report generation and data validation programs. This data is used to for injury research, epidemiology, quality improvement and to enhance trauma care delivery to our patients. This role, in conjunction with the Trauma Medical Director and Trauma Program Manager, help monitor and coordinate trauma system elements to ensure an organized, multidisciplinary team approach in optimize the care of the trauma patient.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) or Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN) or Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) or Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) upon hire.
  • Experience in trauma registry and trauma care system at the community, state or national level.

The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on‑call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
