Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist to join the MHPT @ Navy Yard team in Washington, DC. The role involves comprehensive physical therapy services, including evaluation, treatment planning, and patient documentation, with emphasis on patient and family engagement.

The ideal candidate will hold an PT degree, be a graduate of an accredited program, and have licensure for DC/MD/VA as appropriate; BLS CPR certification is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy.
• Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy.
• Maryland, District of Columbia (DC), and/or Virginia licensure required as deemed necessary for your specific location(s).
• American Heart Association’s BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides evaluation services including review of historical information, performance of assessments, and documentation of results; explains evaluation findings and treatment plan to patient and family and includes patient and family in goal setting.
• Implements treatment protocols based on evaluation findings and patient presentation; consults with other healthcare professionals as indicated; documents changes in patient condition requiring modification of plan of care.
• Completes discharge planning and follow-up care; documents and charges for patient care activities with clear notes from initial evaluation to discharge.
• Demonstrates effective time management and meets productivity expectations with an accurate schedule and empathetic patient access to care.
• Takes initiative in continuing education and serves as a clinical instructor, mentoring staff, students, and trainees.
