Job summary

Baton Rouge General is seeking a pharmacist to join our hospital-based clinical team in Baton Rouge, LA. The role focuses on safe, effective, and cost-conscious drug therapies while collaborating with physicians, nurses, and staff across campuses.

The ideal candidate will have a PharmD, a Louisiana pharmacist license, and at least two years of hospital clinical pharmacy experience, with a strong grasp of pharmacodynamics and regulatory compliance.

What You Will Do:

Promote pharmacodynamics of patient care and assist the clinical coordinator in econotherapeutics activities. Provide safe, effective, and cost-conscious drug therapies for patients of all ages, as defined in the department's scope of service.

• Prepare and dispense drug orders per physician request according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Monitor drug therapy regimens for safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness; provide clinical consultation and suggest therapeutic alternatives.
• Supervise pharmacy support personnel and ensure timely, accurate pharmacy services.
• Promote optimal drug utilization through rounding, education, and collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Participate in Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee meetings, formulary management, and cost-saving initiatives.
• Maintain competency through ongoing education, licensure, and skills assessment.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.
