Responsibilities

• Manages and oversees pharmacy practice programs, directs patient care services, and medication systems to provide reliable, comprehensive, and individualized drug therapy aligned with patient needs, best practices, regulatory standards, and budgets.
• Collaborates with other hospital departments and leaders to promote cooperation and efficiency in providing patient pharmacy care.
• Provides departmental and institutional leadership for medical staff committees, hospital groups, task forces, and approved external programs.
• Serves as departmental resource and liaison to physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other hospital personnel to establish quality infrastructures.
• Assists with annual budget preparation and manages assigned budgets and financial resources.
• Develops performance standards to maximize staff roles in accordance with licensure.
• Manages, monitors, and evaluates staff performance to ensure accuracy and quality of services.
• Provides feedback and counseling regarding job performance and completes performance appraisals.
• Manages schedules and staff requests for PDO and coverage for sick calls or shortages.
• Monitors overtime and attendance and leads recruitment and hiring processes.
• Maintains training and professional development for all staff and fosters engagement.
• Actively performs pharmacist functions and maintains proficiency in clinical and operational programs, dispensing and compounding activities, and hospital systems.
• Works with the pharmacy division and multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered care with safe, timely medication therapy.
• Monitors pharmacy practice performance, tracks outcomes, and benchmarks against targets and best practices.
• Identifies and facilitates quality improvement initiatives and education for healthcare providers.
• Serves as a preceptor/educator for residency and student programs and mentors staff.
