Job summary

Inova Retail and Specialty Pharmacy is seeking a dedicated Clinical Pharmacist - Operations for a full-time, Monday–Friday role at the Chantilly, VA location. The team supports Inova, a national healthcare leader, and offers a mix of remote and hybrid career opportunities.

The role involves clinical medication management, formulary oversight, and staff supervision, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor degree in Pharmacy.
• Licensed Pharmacist in VA.
• PGY1 Residency.
• BLS, ACLS for Critical Care and Emergency Medicine, and PALS within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Interprets, prepares, and verifies medication orders as appropriate.
• Provides clinical consultation and cost-effective alternatives.
• Issues controlled substances in compliance according to the DEA and VA Board of Pharmacy requirements.
• Participates in the medication formulary review and approval process.
• Monitors drug therapies for interactions, allergies, and appropriateness.
• Reports adverse drug reactions promptly and accurately.
• Minimizes non-formulary procurement and supports substitutions.
• Supervises pharmacy support staff.
• Participates in continuous quality improvement.
• May perform additional duties including decentralised rounding with clinical teams and responding to emergent bedside alerts.

Clinical Pharmacist Job Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor degree in Pharmacy.
• Licensed Pharmacist in the state of VA.
• Experience: PGY1 Residency.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for Critical Care and Emergency Medicine, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• One (1) year as a pharmacist.
