Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Interprets physicians' orders to ensure therapy is appropriate for patient diagnosis, age and weight.
• Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications in all patient care areas in accordance with laws.
• Dispenses ambulatory prescriptions with direct patient interaction.
• Detects, prevents, evaluates and reports adverse drug events.
• Maintains patient medication profiles and develops patient care plans.
• Counsels patients receiving medications.
• Provides drug information to the health care team.
• Supervises the activities of supportive personnel.
• Serves as a preceptor to technicians, students, residents and interns.
• Participates in continuing education and adheres to departmental controls.
