Job summary

AdventHealth in Florida seeks a Pharmacist to educate patients, families and the healthcare team on safe medication use. The role involves direct patient care, participation in stewardship, and coordinating care transitions.

You will supervise pharmacy technicians and residents, support team learning, and identify medication safety events, ensuring cost-effective therapy and quality care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Doctorate preferred.
• PharmD degree field of study.

Responsibilities

• Educate and counsel patients, families, and healthcare team on safe medication use.
• Provide safe, timely, cost-effective pharmacotherapy; participate in stewardship and programs.
• Engage in direct patient care and interdisciplinary rounds; ensure smooth transitions of care.
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate pharmacy staff and learners.
• Identify and help resolve medication safety events and adverse drug reactions.

Job Description:

• Open availability and flexibility are required. This position consists of 8-hour shifts, with start times that may vary based on departmental needs. Shifts may begin as early as 6:00 AM or at 7:30 AM, 12:00 PM, or 1:30 PM (EST).
• Educate and counsel patients, families, and healthcare team members on safe and effective medication use.
• Provide safe, timely, and cost-effective medication therapy; actively participate in stewardship, surveillance, and restricted-use programs.
• Engage in direct patient care and interdisciplinary rounds, ensuring smooth transitions of care from admission through discharge and follow-up.
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate pharmacy technicians, interns, students, and residents; support team learning and development.
• Identify, report, and help resolve medication safety events, adverse drug reactions, and errors.
