Job Description

The Principal Clinical Program Pharmacist Prin is responsible for implementing the strategy and developing clinical product(s). This role is responsible for keeping the product(s) competitive by understanding market problems, executing the product roadmap, and maintaining clinical criteria. The role requires routine interaction with leadership regarding the product strategy and must collaborate with other departments to ensure the strategy is executed as established.The Board-Certified Oncology Pharmacist position is responsible for providing subject matter expertise and direction for Prime’s Oncology Medical Specialty programs. This position has responsibility for the development and maintenance programs and processes driving and supporting Prime’s oncology business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Provides subject matter expertise in Oncology to direct and improve programs (90%)
  • Develop and manage complex clinical product initiatives including clinical criteria (20%)
  • Gather, analyze, and synthesize market information, clinical guidelines and member claims data to support clinical product management initiatives, products and strategies (20%)
  • Coordinate, launch and implement new products, product enhancements, and process improvements across all stakeholders (10%)
  • Represent the Clinical department as a strategic partner during customer requirement sessions (10%)
  • Responsible for regulatory (URAC/NCQA, CMS, state law) oversight and external representation of the department (10%)
  • Validate the accuracy of clinical product information and set up; may include user acceptance testing of applications and programs (10%)
  • Establish and maintain cross-functional partnerships with leaders to drive informed decisions and successful execution of initiatives (10%)
  • May be required to collaborate and interact with client partners (5%)
  • Other duties as assigned (10%)

Education & Experience

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science Pharmacy Degree
  • Current pharmacist license in good standing with State Board of Pharmacy
  • 3 years of relevant work experience as a pharmacist in clinical oncology with experience at an institution, practice, or hospice.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship
  • BCOP- Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist

Additional Qualifications

  • Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency
  • Proven experience working in regulated environment
  • Ability to work in ambiguous role with undefined parameters
  • Exceptional relationship and communication skills; excellent written, verbal and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and quality
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously under pressure with strict timelines
  • Ability to develop process efficiencies
  • Ability to work well in team environment
  • Ability to serve as a preceptor for PGY1 Managed Care Residency Program
  • Must have significant clinical knowledge in Oncology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in cross-functional departmental collaboration
  • Broad experience in or exposure to the Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) business
  • PGY1 pharmacy residency experience preferred

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally required to travel (up to 10% of the time)
  • Constantly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, talk and hear
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, and crouch
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Potential pay for this position ranges from $124,000.00 - $211,000.00 based on experience and skills.
