Job summary

Mercy Hospital Bakersfield, part of CommonSpirit Health, is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to ensure safe prescribing and dispensing. You will review prescriptions for safety, interactions, and dosing, and participate in direct patient care within a fast-paced hospital setting.

You will verify orders, provide drug information to patients and health teams, and maintain clinical knowledge across age groups. Strong communication and teamwork are essential to deliver exceptional care.

• Must possess strong knowledge of Pharmacy Services; knowledgeable and skilled in current practice concepts of pharmacy practice settings; strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and professional standards; strong project management skills; good strategic planning skills; strong change management skills; must demonstrate personal traits of a high level motivation; team orientation; professionalism; trust; and place a high value on treating others with dignity and respect.

Responsibilities

• Reviews prescriptions for drug interactions, dosing, allergies, and safety before dispensing.
• Enters/verifies orders in the computer system and labels dispensed medications.
• Verifies medications prepared by other pharmacy staff.
• Communicates drug information to patients and health professionals and resolves drug-related problems.
• Maintains knowledge base to provide clinical services across age groups and settings.
• Maintains working knowledge of automated systems.
