Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college.
  • Current registration to practice pharmacy in the state.
  • One year of previous pharmacy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
  • Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
  • Advises on drug therapies and monitors patient drug therapies.
  • Directs technicians' workflow and verifies preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals.
  • Provides pharmacological information to health care professionals and counsels patients.
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations and infection-control policies.
  • Maintains narcotic inventory and related records; handles controlled substances appropriately.
  • Collaborates with outside medical providers regarding prescriptions and patient care.
