Job summary
Inova Health's Retail and Specialty Pharmacy seeks a dedicated Clinical Pharmacist - Operations to join our Chantilly team. This full-time, Monday through Friday role supports patient care excellence and clinical operations at 3901 Stonecroft Blvd, Chantilly, VA.
The pharmacist will interpret orders, provide cost-effective therapies, supervise staff, and participate in continuous quality improvement, with benefits including comprehensive health coverage, retirement matching, and education
Qualifications
- PharmD or BPharm degree required or equivalent.
- Licensed Pharmacist in the state of VA.
- Completion of PGY1 residency required or preferred.
- BLS, ACLS (Critical Care & Emergency Med), and PALS within 90 days of hire.
Responsibilities
- Interprets, prepares, and verifies medication orders.
- Provides clinical consultation and cost-effective alternatives.
- Issues controlled substances in compliance with DEA and VA Board of Pharmacy.
- Participates in formulary review and approval process.
- Monitors drug therapies for interactions and safety.
- Reports adverse drug reactions promptly.
- Minimizes non-formulary procurement and supports substitutions.
- Supervises pharmacy support staff.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement.
- May assist in decentralized rounding with clinical teams.
- Responds to emergent bedside alerts and codes.
