Job summary

Birdi in Tempe, Arizona is seeking a Staff Pharmacist to ensure safe, accurate dispensing and to serve as a clinical resource for patients, prescribers, and the pharmacy team. You will review orders, conduct clinical consultations, and uphold the highest standards of patient safety.

This role involves mentoring technicians, supporting daily operations, verifying prescriptions in the pharmacy system, and maintaining compliance with Federal and State regulations.

Qualifications

• Experience in pharmacy practice, including mail-order, specialty, or managed care environments.
• Strong clinical knowledge and medication management expertise.

Responsibilities

• Review, interpret, and verify prescription orders for accuracy and appropriateness.
• Evaluate prescriptions for drug interactions, allergies, contraindications, duplicate therapies, incorrect dosing, and polypharmacy risks.
• Ensure medications are dispensed safely and per clinical best practices.
• Stay current with evolving pharmaceutical therapies and treatment guidelines.
• Provide patient counseling and medication education.
• Explain medication usage, dosing, potential side effects, and therapy expectations.
• Conduct clinical consultations to help patients manage therapies effectively.
• Promote safe medication use and adherence through proactive patient engagement.
• Communicate with prescribers to clarify orders and resolve questions.
• Collaborate with providers to optimize drug therapy outcomes.
• Facilitate prescription transfers in accordance with regulations.
• Verify prescription accuracy in the pharmacy system.
• Perform final verification checks prior to dispensing and shipment.
• Support workflow efficiency and inventory oversight.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve operational or medication-related issues.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company policies; protect PHI.
• Support accreditation, quality, and compliance initiatives.
