Requires a five-year BS in pharmacy and an active Michigan pharmacist license with a controlled substances license; hospital or retail experience is preferred. Emphasis on safety, cost-effectiveness and clinical consultation.

Qualifications

• Five-year Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.
• Current registered pharmacist license and controlled substance license issued by the Michigan State Board of Pharmacy.
• Preferred: one year of hospital or retail pharmacy experience and knowledge of drug regimen review and order-entry software.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, prepares and dispenses medication orders per physician order or prescription.
• Can work independently but stays within departmental policies and procedures.
• Ensures safe, cost-effective medication therapies for patients following policies and protocols.
• Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department.
• Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners.
