Job summary

Mercy Hospital Springfield is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist for an evening block schedule to join a top-tier hospital pharmacy team. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and staff to optimize therapy and improve patient outcomes in a fast-paced setting.

This role emphasizes safety, evidence-based practice, and teaching opportunities for students and residents, with a strong focus on formulary management and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• BS in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited school.
• Current pharmacist license in the state of practice (or eligibility).
• Missouri licensure requirements or eligibility as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Review medications for safety, effectiveness and appropriateness.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and clinicians to optimize patient care.
• Identify and resolve medication-related issues, adverse reactions and interactions.
• Monitor patient responses and adjust therapies as needed.
• Provide medication education to patients and healthcare teams.
• Act as a clinical resource on formulary management and evidence-based practices.
• Participate in quality improvement, med-use evaluations and patient safety programs.
• Precept students and residents during training.
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and related systems.

What You'll Do

As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will serve as a trusted medication expert and integral member of the healthcare team by:

• Reviewing and evaluating medication therapies for safety, effectiveness, and appropriateness
• Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other clinicians to optimize patient care
• Identifying and resolving medication-related issues, adverse reactions, and drug interactions
• Monitoring patient responses to therapy and recommending adjustments when appropriate
• Providing medication education and consultation to patients and healthcare providers
• Serving as a key clinical resource on formulary management, medication utilization, and evidence-based practices
• Participating in quality improvement initiatives, medication-use evaluations, and patient safety programs
• Supporting pharmacy learners through student and resident education opportunities
• Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and utilizing technology systems including Epic, Micromedex, and pharmacy automation platforms

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited school of pharmacy
• Current pharmacist license in the state of practice (or eligibility for licensure)

Preferred

• Two or more years of clinical pharmacy experience
• PGY-1 Residency training
• Missouri Medication Therapy Services Certificate (required within 90 days of hire for Missouri pharmacists)
