Children's of Alabama in Birmingham is seeking a pharmacist to provide specialized pharmaceutical services, advise physicians on drug usage, and participate in ongoing education for Pharmacy and medical staff. The role operates on a full-time daytime schedule within the Main Campus pharmacy.
The successful candidate will have a PharmD, be licensed in Alabama, and hold an Alabama Controlled Substances Registration, supporting a 24/7 hospital environment through centralized and decentralized
Work schedule will be Full-time on the Day Shift, Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4pm.
Responsible for providing specialized pharmaceutical services to include advising physicians on matters pertaining to drug usage and control within assigned hospital locations; and participate in the development and delivery of continuing education programs for Pharmacy, Patient Care Services, Medical staff and students.
The Pharmacy Department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide excellent pharmaceutical care to Children's of Alabama Patients. Services include, compounding of sterile and non-sterile medication, pharmacokinetics, medication order verification, OR preference bags, hazardous medication dispensing and compounding, clinical pharmacy services, unit-dosing of medication, automatic dispensing machines (Pyxis), investigational study pharmacy, medication delivery and more. The pharmacy operates out of a central pharmacy located in the Benjamin Russell building. Decentralized services are provided by clinical pharmacists on the units and several pharmacy satellites (main campus OR, Children's South, hematology/oncology clinic, Investigational Pharmacy). The pharmacy utilizes Epic, Epic Willow Inventory, bar code scanning, vertical carousels, and kit management software.
