Job summary

Overland Park Regional Medical Center seeks a Clinical Pharmacist for evening shifts, providing comprehensive pharmaceutical services for hospital inpatients and leading the medication-use system. You will interpret orders, accurately compound and dispense pharmaceuticals, monitor therapy for interactions and contraindications, and suggest cost-effective alternatives to medical staff.

Qualifications

  • B.S. or PharmD from ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy; Doctor of Pharmacy preferred.
  • Active pharmacist license in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • State-specific Medications Therapy Management Certification.
  • Hospital pharmacy experience: 1 year min, or 2 years general hospital pharmacy.
  • Completion of PGY1 residency or fellowship preferred.
  • BCPS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret orders and transcribe into the pharmacy computer system.
  • Accurately compound and dispense pharmaceuticals.
  • Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies and dose appropriateness.
  • Suggest cost-effective therapeutic medication alternatives to medical staff.
  • Sustain the hospital formulary, minimize non-formulary procurements, promote rational drug therapy selection.
  • Assist with clinical services such as drug consults, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, anticoagulant monitoring, pain management, IV to PO, renal dosing and other programs.
  • Complete notification reports regarding medication errors and adverse drug reactions.
  • Provide oversight of staff schedules.

Schedule: 12:30-9pm on weekdays and 2-10:30pm every 4th weekend

Job Summary and Qualifications

Our Pharmacists provide comprehensive pharmaceutical services for hospital inpatients. The role of the Pharmacy is to promote safe and effective medication therapy for all patients and to provide oversight and leadership of the medication use system. What you will do in this role:

  • You will interpret orders and transcribe into the pharmacy computer system.

  • You will monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies and appropriateness of drug and dose.
  • You will suggest appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic medication alternatives to medical staff.
  • You will sustain the hospital formulary, minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic interchanges and promote rational drug therapy selection.
  • You will assist with clinical services such as drug consults, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, anticoagulant monitoring, pain management, IV to PO, renal dosing and other programs as defined by Pharmacy Leadership.
  • You will complete notification reports regarding medication errors and adverse drug reactions.
  • You will provide oversight of staff schedules.

What Qualifications You Will Need:

  • B.S. or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy, a Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy is preferred
  • Active pharmacist license in good standing with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy
  • State Specific Medications Therapy Management Certification
  • At least one of the following:Minimum of 1 year of hospital clinical pharmacy experience or at least 2 years of general hospital pharmacy experience preferred; within area of focus
  • Completion of hospital PGY1/ pharmacy general practice residency or fellowship highly preferred
  • Specialty BCPS certification preferred

Overland Park Regional Medical Center is a 340+ bed facility offering acute medical services to our patients. We are Johnson County's only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Level II Trauma Center.
