Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in the United States seeks a Clinical Pharmacist to ensure safe, effective medication use across inpatient and outpatient settings. The role requires ACPE-accredited PharmD or BS Pharmacy, licensure, and compliance with VA standards.

Responsibilities include drug therapy optimization, patient education, and collaboration with care teams. EDRP eligibility is available for Education Debt Reduction, with program details reviewed by VA Loan Repayment Services.

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required or compliant with VA policy for non-citizens
• Must be proficient in spoken and written English per VA requirements
• Pharmacy degree from ACPE-accredited school (BS Pharmacy or PharmD)
• Foreign grads must have FPGEC certification including FPGEE and TOEFL iBT
• Full, current, unrestricted pharmacy license in relevant US state/territory
• Professional pharmacy experience or residency/fellowship aligned to licensure requirements
• Residency/fellowship or ASHP-accredited programs can substitute experience
• Understanding of laws and accreditation standards for drug distribution and pharmacy security
• Experience in clinical pharmacy practice and drug therapy monitoring

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and appropriate use of medications and advocate rational drug therapy
• Analyze real and potential drug-related problems and implement corrective actions
• Monitor drug therapy outcomes and communicate recommendations to health care providers
• Dispense and review all medication orders for appropriateness
• Oversee inpatient and outpatient pharmacy workflows and automation
• Educate health care providers on medication use and perform therapeutic drug monitoring
• Maintain drug stock and ensure proper storage and handling
• Ensure compliance with safety, privacy, and regulatory standards
