Job summary

AdventHealth in Minneola, FL is seeking a pharmacist to educate patients, families, and the healthcare team on safe and effective medication use, and to provide timely, cost‑effective therapy through stewardship and proper documentation.

You will supervise technicians and residents, participate in rounds, review orders, prevent drug‑related problems, and support quality improvement, compliance, and accreditation activities. Licensure as a Pharmacist in Florida is required.

Responsibilities

  • Educate and counsel patients, families, and healthcare team on safe medication use.
  • Provide safe, timely, and cost-effective therapy; participate in stewardship and surveillance.
  • Engage in direct patient care and interdisciplinary rounds, ensuring smooth transitions of care from admission through discharge and follow-up.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate pharmacy technicians, interns, students, and residents; support team learning.
  • Identify, report, and help resolve medication safety events, adverse drug reactions, and errors.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with EHRs, pharmacy informatics systems, and medication automation.
  • Contribute to professional advancement through practice innovation, research, and committee activity.
  • Perform all pharmacist functions across central, satellite, and IV areas.
  • Review and monitor medication orders and patient profiles to prevent drug-related problems.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, and accreditation activities.

Job Description
  • Educate and counsel patients, families, and healthcare team members on safe and effective medication use.
  • Provide safe, timely, and cost-effective medication therapy; actively participating in stewardship, surveillance, and restricted-use programs.
  • Engage in direct patient care and interdisciplinary rounds, ensuring smooth transitions of care from admission through discharge and follow-up.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate pharmacy technicians, interns, students, and residents; support team learning and development.
  • Identify, report, and help resolve medication safety events, adverse drug reactions, and errors.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with EHRs, pharmacy informatics systems, and medication automation to optimize clinical decision support and documentation.
  • Contribute to professional advancement through practice innovation, research, specialty alignment (e.g., critical care, oncology, infectious disease), committee participation, and scholarly activity.
  • Perform all pharmacist functions including compounding, dispensing, verification, and documentation of medications across central, satellite, and IV areas.
  • Review and monitor medication orders and patient profiles to prevent, identify, and resolve drug-related problems; complete pharmacist consults and perform pharmacokinetic dosing, monitoring, and adjustments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, and accreditation activities; track performance metrics (e.g., interventions, error reduction, cost savings).
