Job summary

HCA Florida Citrus Hospital is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to join our team. You will provide clinical pharmacy services for all patients and ensure safe procurement, preparation, labelling, distribution and control of all medications.

The role emphasizes collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care. You will review orders, monitor narcotics, and support development of clinical pharmacy programs aligned with patient needs and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Pharmacist with degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college.
  • Experience in acute-care hospital or residency preferred.
  • Current FL Pharmacist license or eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical pharmacy services for all patients and ensure safe procurement, preparation, labelling, distribution and control of medications.
  • Coordinate development and maintenance of clinical pharmacy programs to meet patient needs.
  • Review medication orders and ensure appropriateness of drugs, dosages and interactions.
  • Monitor narcotic transactions and reconcile controlled substances.

Job Summary and Qualifications

We are seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to join our team. As our pharmacist you would provide clinical pharmacy services for all patients and ensure the safe procurement, preparation, labelling, distribution and control of all medications. What will you do in this role:

  • You will coordinate and assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of clinical pharmacy programs to ensure clinical services meet the requirements and needs of the patient population and community.
  • You will provide clinical pharmacy support and execute clinical pharmacy programs for all patient areas.
  • You will review medication orders and quality of technicians work to ensure appropriateness of drugs ordered, dosage, route and interactions. Adjust medications dosage/schedule as appropriate for patient condition as per policy.
  • You will ensure medications are safely dispensed to patients in accordance with age.
  • You will closely monitor narcotic transactions by checking all controlled substances that are dispensed and reconcile the quantity/type of narcotics leaving the pharmacy.
  • You will assist the department in addressing physician consult as needed. Provide timely retrieval of reliable drug information from available sources.
  • You will communicate effectively and work with physicians and/or other members of the interdisciplinary team in meeting patient needs.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Bachelor of Science or Pharm D degree in Pharmacy from College of Pharmacy
  • Experience as a pharmacist in an acute-care hospital setting or general pharmacy practice residency preferred.
  • Current FL Pharmacist license or license eligible.
  • Eligible to sit for North American Pharmacist Licensure Exam (NAPLEX).
  • Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills.
