Job summary

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist for a full-time night shift (Wednesday–Tuesday, 7 on/7 off). The role includes clinical consults, medication order verification, and participation in formulary review.

Inova offers sign-on bonus and relocation assistance, plus comprehensive health, retirement, and education benefits. The ideal candidate will be licensed in VA, hold PharmD or Bachelor in Pharmacy, and have BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Pharmacist must hold PharmD or Bachelor in Pharmacy and VA licensure.
• Certification: BLS, ACLS for Critical Care and Emergency Medicine, and PALS within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Interprets, prepares, and verifies medication orders.
• Provides clinical consultation and cost-effective alternatives.
• Issues controlled substances per DEA and VA Board requirements.
• Participates in formulary review and approval.
• Monitors drug therapies for interactions, allergies, and appropriateness.
• Reports adverse drug reactions promptly.
• Minimizes non-formulary procurement and supports substitutions.
• Participates in continuous quality improvement.
• May perform additional duties including rounding with clinical teams, responding to emergent alerts, and precepting learners.

Clinical Pharmacist J ob Responsibilities:

• Participates in the medication formulary review and approval process.
• Monitors drug therapies for interactions, allergies, and appropriateness.
• Reports adverse drug reactions promptly and accurately.
• Minimizes non-formulary procurement and supports substitutions.
• Participates in continuous quality improvement.
• May perform additional duties as assigned, including, but not limited to:
  • Participating in decentralized rounding with clinical teams.
  • Responding to emergent bedside alerts and codes (adult and pediatric as designated).
  • Precepting learners as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor degree in Pharmacy .
• Licensure: Licensed Pharmacist in the state of VA.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for Critical Care and Emergency Medicine, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience: One (1) year as a Pharmacist working night shift.
• EPIC trained
• PGY 1 residency
