Job Description - Clinical Pediatrician (Part time, 32 hours) (250000XO)

Description

The physician is responsible for the care of patients in the hospital and clinics, as well as other initiatives as determined by the Division Chief and/or the Center leadership.

Qualifications

Minimum Education
Medical Doctor (M.D.) from an accredited medical school. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Knowledge of current principles, methods, and procedures for medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment. Knowledge of legal and ethical standards. Ability to evaluate patient problems independently, incorporate ethical concepts, supervise and train staff, and maintain quality standards. Commitment to Continuing Medical Education.

Required Licenses and Certifications
Full licensure and credentialing at Children’s National Medical Center; Board certified or eligible.

Functional Accountabilities
  • Provide clinical services ethically and professionally; allocate effort accordingly.
  • Oversee medical care teams, manage patient care, and ensure effective communication and continuity.
  • Participate in family-centered care, refer to specialists, and utilize the chain of command.
  • Respond promptly to team and external providers, and communicate expectations clearly.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Participate in advocacy, public policy, education, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to teaching, supervise trainees, and provide feedback.
  • Follow policies, ensure documentation, and participate in policy development and peer reviews.
