Job summary

Visionworks of America, Inc. is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to ensure a great patient experience by prepping patients for on-site or remote exams, performing pre-exam tests, and guiding patients through each step with the optical team.

You will assist in both in-store and remote eye care workflows, manage EMR documentation, and coordinate with doctors and retail staff to schedule visits, collect insurance information, and explain treatment plans to patients.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of related experience
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred
• Medical office/business professionalism required
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience
• Training provided

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for onsite and remote examinations and document results in EMR.
• Assist optometrist during eye examinations and explain preliminary testing to patients.
• Support remote eye exams, including pre-testing and video conferencing.
• Coordinate with retail staff to schedule exams and handle no-shows/cancellations.
• Explain plan benefits and obtain preauthorization for insurance.
• Instruct patients on contact lens care and handle lens orders.
• Maintain patient records and ensure clean, safe clinical environment.
• Travel between stores and adapt to changing schedules.
