Clinical Optimization Coordinator – Hospital Medicine & Emergency Medicine

Position Summary
Inhospital Physicians is seeking an experiencedClinical Optimization Coordinatorto support our Hospital Medicine (HM) and Emergency Medicine (EM) programs across Hemet, Menifee, and Victorville.
This role is focused on improvingpatient throughput, length of stay (LOS), discharge efficiency, multidisciplinary rounds (MDRs), provider documentation, and HM/EM performance metrics.
The coordinator will work closely withHM and EM Medical Directors, physicians, nursing, case management, CDI, and hospital leadership including the CEO, CMO, CNO, and ED Nursing Directorsto achieve established operational and quality goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in dailyMDRsand patient progression activities.
- Identify and follow up on barriers to discharge and patient flow.
- Support initiatives related toLOS, early discharge, discharge efficiency, and hospital throughput.
- Track HM and EM performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Coordinate with Medical Directors and providers on documentation and performance initiatives.
- SupportED throughput, boarding reduction, admission flow, and HM/EM coordination.
- Work with nursing, case management, CDI, quality, and hospital administration to resolve operational barriers.
- Maintain performance dashboards, reports, and action-item trackers.
- Participate in HM, EM, and hospital operational meetings.
- Follow assigned action items through completion and elevate unresolved issues.
- Help implement physician and APP staffing schedules and coverage models established byIHP/KPC leadership.
- Coordinate physician and APP onboarding, orientation, and first-shift readiness.
- Work with recruiting, credentialing, and operations teams on provider recruitment, contracts, credentialing, interviews, and hospital site visits.
- Coordinate between local hospital teams and IHP corporate recruiting, credentialing, and operational teams.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of relevant healthcare experience required.
- Experience may includenursing, allied health, case management, utilization management, quality/performance improvement, clinical operations, or hospital operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, healthcare administration, business, or related field preferred.
- RN, LVN/LPN, allied health, or other healthcare professional background preferred butnot required.
- Acute-care hospital experience strongly preferred.
- Experience withLOS management, MDRs, discharge planning, throughput, utilization management, quality, or performance improvementpreferred.
- Strong understanding of hospital workflow and patient progression.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and follow-through skills.
- Comfortable working directly with physicians, Medical Directors, nursing leaders, and hospital executives.
- Ability to interpret and track clinical and operational performance metrics.
- Strong Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and general computer skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel betweenHemet, Menifee, and Victorvilleas needed.

Work Location
