Job summary

Newport Academy in Connecticut seeks a Clinical Operations Manager to oversee the delivery of high-quality primary mental health care and program services through an interdisciplinary team.

This role emphasizes a collaborative, outcomes-driven approach to ensure optimal client care, staff support, and compliance with standards across the facility. You will lead daily operations, staff development, and weekly team meetings while coordinating admissions, supervision schedules, and crisis response.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required; licensed as LMFT/LPC/LMHC/LicSW or psychologist.
  • Minimum two years clinical experience with adolescents, young adults, and families preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee clinical and operational functions to ensure standards.
  • Develop and implement clinical program schedule with at least 20 hours weekly.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and mentor staff; manage PTO and evaluations.
  • Participate in intake and provide caseload support; facilitate groups when needed.
  • Lead weekly treatment team meetings and supervision sessions; collaborate on training.
  • Engage clients and families with clear communication; participate in on-call rotation.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and safety standards; support QA initiatives.
  • Perform other duties to support Newport Academy’s mission.

What You’ll Do

The Clinical Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality primary mental health care and program services through an interdisciplinary team. This role emphasizes a comprehensive and collaborative approach to ensure optimal client outcomes and a supportive environment for both clients and staff.

Key Performance Responsibilities:
  1. Clinical and Operational Oversight:

    • Manage clinical and operational functions for the assigned facility, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and best practices.
  2. Program Development:

    • Develop and implement a clinical program schedule to guarantee a minimum of 20 clinical hours per week.
    • Schedule and coordinate program activities to enhance service delivery.
  3. Staff Management:

    • Recruit, hire, train, mentor clinical and program staff.
    • Manage hourly employee timecards, paid time off (PTO), and performance evaluations.
    • Develop staffing schedules to ensure adequate 24/7 client supervision ratios.
  4. Client Intake and Support:

    • Participate in the admission and intake process as needed.
    • Provide clinical support by maintaining a caseload and facilitating groups in the absence of the Primary Therapist.
  5. Team Collaboration:

    • Facilitate weekly treatment team meetings and clinical supervision sessions, along with program and staff meetings.
    • Collaborate with Clinical and Executive Directors to identify training needs, clinical initiatives, and manage client admissions/discharges.
  6. Client and Family Engagement:

    • Focus on enhancing client and family experiences through consistent communication and attention to their needs.
    • Support emerging crisis situations within the milieu and participate in the on-call rotation.
  7. Staff Counseling and Support:

    • Counsel and support staff with program and client-related issues, fostering a collaborative work environment.
  8. Compliance and Quality Assurance:

    • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, health and safety standards, and professional conduct guidelines.
    • Support quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives as necessary.
  9. Additional Duties:

    • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the organization.
What Makes You a Great Fit
  • Master’s degree and licensed as Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT), Professional Counselor (LPC), Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Social Worker (LICSW) or Doctorate-level Psychological Associate or Clinical Psychologist, with ability to provide clinical supervision to Associate-level and Practicum Trainees as required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of relevant clinical experience with adolescents, young adults, and families with mental health, substance, abuse, and co-occurring disordered populations preferred..
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a residential setting preferred.
