Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for patients with chronic pain, TBI, and PTSD.
  • Develop individualized nutrition care plans based on clinical needs, goals, and evidence-based practices.
  • Provide individual nutrition counseling and facilitate group nutrition education sessions in person and via telehealth.
  • Lead and supervise daily meal preparation for patient breakfast and lunch service.
  • Conduct hands-on cooking demonstrations and therapeutic meal preparation sessions with patients.
  • Educate patients on healthy eating habits, meal planning, food preparation, and nutrition strategies that support recovery.
  • Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, PTs, nurses, and other clinicians to provide coordinated patient care.
  • Maintain timely documentation of patient assessments, plans, progress notes, and outcomes in the EMR.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and stay current with evidence-based nutrition practices.

Institutes of Health is seeking a compassionate and experienced Clinical Nutrition Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team providing care for patients recovering from chronic pain, traumatic brain injury, and post traumatic stress disorder in our Intensive Outpatient Program.
This unique role combines clinical nutrition counseling, patient education, culinary leadership, and collaborative healthcare to help patients improve their health and quality of life. The ideal candidate is passionate about nutrition as a therapeutic tool and enjoys working closely with both patients and an interdisciplinary medical team. Some patient education sessions may be conducted through telehealth.
The Clinical Nutrition Specialist is responsible for assessing patients' nutritional needs, developing individualized nutrition care plans, providing one on one counseling, leading nutrition education groups, and overseeing daily meal preparation within our therapeutic culinary program. This position works closely with physicians, psychologists, physical therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support comprehensive patient care.

  • Culinary, food service, or kitchen leadership experience.
  • Experience leading cooking demonstrations or therapeutic culinary programs.
  • Familiarity with telehealth platforms.
