Job summary

UAB Medicine seeks a Nutrition Technology Applications Specialist to lead design, deployment and support of nutrition and food service software across the system. You will serve as the primary administrator for CBORD and related nutrition systems, guiding configuration, testing, training and ongoing optimization.

Strong background in clinical nutrition and healthcare tech is required, along with a Dietitian license in Alabama.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition Science, Dietetics, Clinical Nutrition, Nutritional Sciences or related field.
  • Three years in food service, clinical nutrition, or CBORD-related healthcare tech; two years in admin/config/implementation/support.
  • If licensed before 2023-12-31, Bachelor's suffices; if licensed after 2024-01-01, Master's required.
  • Active Dietitian license in Alabama required.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, maintain, optimize and support nutrition/food service tech across the health system.
  • Serve as primary administrator and SME for CBORD, patient meal ordering, nutrition apps, reporting platforms and related databases.
  • Lead design, workflow analysis, configuration, testing, training, documentation and ongoing support.
  • Coordinate between IT, Clinical Nutrition, Food & Nutrition Services, leaders, end users and vendors.

Job Description

To be responsible for the design, development, implementation, maintenance, optimization and support of nutrition and food service technology applications across the healthcare system. To serve as the primary application administrator and subject matter expert for assigned nutrition and food service systems, including CBORD, patient meal ordering systems, nutrition management applications, reporting platforms and related databases. Under minimal supervision, to lead system design, workflow analysis, application configuration, testing, implementation, training, documentation and ongoing support activities. To be a liaison between Information Technology, Clinical Nutrition, Food & Nutrition Services, operational leaders, end users and software vendors.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Nutrition Science, Dietetics, Clinical Nutrition, Nutritional Sciences or related field required. Three (3) years of food service, clinical nutrition, nutrition informatics, healthcare technology, or CBORD-related experience; two (2) years of which must include experience with direct application administration, configuration, implementation, or application support experience. If licensed prior to 12/31/2023 a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition Science, Dietetics, Clinical Nutrition, Nutritional Sciences or related field required. If licensed after 01/01/2024 a Master's degree in Nutrition Science, Dietetics, Clinical Nutrition, Nutritional Sciences or related field required. Currently licensed as a Dietitian with the State of Alabama Board of Examiners for Dietetic/Nutrition practice required.

Preferred qualifications include acute care hospital clinical nutrition experience; experience supporting CBORD applications and nutrition technology systems; experience with healthcare databases, reporting tools, analytics platforms, business intelligence solutions; and experience leading application implementations, upgrades, workflow redesign, testing and training.

Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
