Job Summary
Plans, organizes, directs, evaluates and coordinates inpatient-nursing services within a service line. Collaborates with KFHP/H and the Medical Group staff in the development and execution of strategic plans, providing quality care, and managing cost-effective services which are aligned with regulations. Responsible for achieving the strategic vision for nursing in their assigned areas of accountability, ensuring quality of care and services to patients. Areas of responsibility depend on medical center beds and services offered, including Adult Services, Maternal Child Health, and Perioperative services.
Essential Responsibilities
- Collaborate with leadership to implement innovative models and best practices focusing on quality, service, and cost reduction.
- Develop and implement standards across the continuum of care, ensuring patient-focused, cost-effective services.
- Coordinate patient transitions across services, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
- Provide clinical and professional oversight for areas of accountability.
- Support organizational strategies like hospital efficiency, safety, and patient satisfaction.
- Hire, retain, and develop staff to achieve optimal staffing ratios and patient outcomes.
- Mentor nursing managers in leadership, staffing, and professional development.
- Develop departmental standards and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Create services with high customer satisfaction, quality, and innovation.
- Maintain readiness for regulatory inspections.
- Manage HR issues, safety, and risk management.
- Enhance practice and outcomes through clinical committees.
- Participate in recruitment and retention planning.
- Use research and clinical data to improve patient care.
- Manage clinical operations and monitor quality via KP Health Connect.
- Oversee departmental budgets, costs, and resource allocation.
- Promote hospital services and community relations.
Experience and Education
- Minimum 7 years of nursing experience in patient care.
- Minimum 5 years of management experience.
- Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
- Masters in Nursing or Bachelors in Nursing with a related Master’s degree.
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Nurse License (California) required at hire.
Additional Requirements
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to lead through influence and change.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
- Certifications like ACLS, PALS, NRP may be required.
- National Certification preferred within 1 year.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Magnet or shared governance.
- Experience managing in a union environment.
