Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care and perform clerical duties in a clinical unit. The role supports the multidisciplinary care plan, with emphasis on timely patient care, accurate documentation, and safety observations.

Responsibilities include patient hygiene, changing linens, specimen handling, transportation coordination, and assisting with admissions, transfers, and tests. Opportunities to mentor students and participate in care continuity are available.

Qualifications

• Meets qualifications to provide care for patients in the assigned clinical area.
• Works within the nursing assistant scope of practice.
• Provides one-to-one patient safety watch as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care as directed within the nursing assistant scope of practice.
• Identifies and documents patient needs and reports changes to licensed personnel.
• Transports specimens and coordinates tests across departments.
• Performs clerical duties for admissions, transfers, discharges, and orders.
• Assists with patient transport and daily living activities, including hygiene and linens.
• Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment; ensures proper maintenance.
• Acts as a preceptor/mentor for new staff and students when needed.
