Responsibilities

• Obtains and documents patient information including reason for visit, weight, vital signs, screening information, medication review, and relevant data for the provider.
• Sets up examination and treatment rooms between cases.
• Assists patient to prepare for visits, ensuring safety and privacy.
• Performs direct patient care as directed, including EKGs, wound dressings, minor procedures support.
• Prepares and administers medications per policy after competency validation (no IV meds).
• Completes patient tests and treatments per provider orders.
• Collects and prepares laboratory specimens and completes related paperwork.
• Performs phlebotomy and supports lab testing, reporting, and quality assurance.
• Handles receptionist and clerical tasks to support patient care and recordkeeping.
• Documents in medical records and uses EMR/scheduling systems as designated.
• Facilitates timely appointments, handles referrals and pre-authorizations.
• Collects co-payments and supports orientation of new personnel.
• Communicates with patients to ensure timely responses and educates as directed by the provider.
• Keeps infection prevention protocols in room setup and instrument sterilization.
• Supports patient safety and participates in quality improvement programs.
