Job summary

Germanna Community College is seeking part-time Clinical Nursing Adjuncts for the 2027 academic year. Adjuncts will teach CNA/LPN/RN courses, develop syllabi, and maintain student records, with load dependent on enrollment and staffing needs.

Courses may be offered in person or online, with varying weekly schedules. Qualified BSN holders, transcripts, and readiness to teach online are required; MSN is preferred for RN tracks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) for all positions (CNA and LPN).
• Official transcripts required prior to final offer.
• Complete Growing with Canvas and TOPS 2.2 prior to teaching.
• Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) – especially for the RN program.
• Prior teaching experience.
• Experience with online teaching.
• Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools.

Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. This posting is intended to establish a pool of qualified adjunct candidates for anticipated instructional needs for 2027. Actual hiring and course assignments are contingent upon enrollment, scheduling demands, program needs, and funding availability. As a result, there may or may not be positions filled from this posting.

Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in the designated discipline/field of study to students from a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. We are seeking someone who is able to teach Clinical Nursing both in-person and online. Adjunct faculty are employed to teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semester and/or up to 8 credit hours during summer session. Teaching load is based on student enrollment and staffing needs. The adjunct faculty contract contains no expectation or guarantee of continued employment.

Germanna Community College invites applications for part-time adjunct faculty positions in clinical nursing for the following areas:

• CNA
• LPN
• RN

This position is located in Virginia. Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance or be willing to relocate to ensure consistent, reliable attendance.

Duties And Tasks

• Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
• Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
• Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of GCC and the VCCS.
• Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.

Essential Functions

As a part of the primary responsibility to provide quality instruction, the College expects each faculty member to meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports routinely; teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts; and adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations

Please note: This wide salary range reflects the diverse faculty ranks within the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). Final salary determination and placement within this range are based on the candidate’s academic credentials and occupational experience as evaluated via the VCCS-10 process.

Special Assignments

• May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
• May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
