The Clinical Nurse is able to guide and promote the growth and development of nursing practice through application of advanced nursing knowledge/skills with patients and families, nurses and other health care providers.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Practice
• Provides direct patient care within an area of clinical specialization.
• Provides education to patients, families and/or caregivers using individualized teaching and counseling skills.
• Participates in the assessment, implementation and ongoing evaluation of clinical services for a designated patient population. Practice includes, but is not limited to:
• Patient screening
• Patient/Family education
• D/C planning and follow-up
• Case management
• Research
• Maintains clinical expertise in area of specialization
• Serves as a resource for patient and/or families/caregivers.
• Uses discriminative judgment in the selection, study and application of existing theories from nursing and allied fields applicable to the uniqueness of the patient care situation.
• Promotes and participates in the interdisciplinary approach to patient care delivery.
• Acts as a patient advocate utilizing the Patient Bill of Rights.

o. Utilizes and participates in the development of hospital, Departmental and Care Center standards, interdisciplinary clinical/pathways, policies, procedures and guidelines as well as regulatory agency standards as appropriate resources.

p. Participates in the development and implementation of a continuous quality improvement program.

Qualifications

Education Requirements

Masters Degree in Nursing. Exceptions may be made for candidates from specialty programs with relevant experience.

Experience Requirements

5 years relevant clinical experience.

Experience in leadership and/or education role.

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $81.336 - $81.336 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need.
