Job summary

Job Purpose & Position Overview

The Outpatient Clinical Nurse, RNis responsible forobjectively assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluatingnursing carein coordination with a multidisciplinary team to provide “patient centered” care. The Registered Nurse”willassistin the ongoing management of the patient based onidentifiedpsycho-social needs, continuity of care, disease prevention, chronic disease management, and provides patient education to promote Health Literacy.

Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the WCHS core mission,visionand values; respecting tribal beliefs, culture, and traditions
  • Formulate clinical decisions thatdemonstratecritical thinking to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of the patient through collaborative practice with the healthcare team.
  • Completes comprehensiveinitialassessmentand completes documentation accurately and completely in thepatientrecord.
  • Demonstratesexpertisein systems assessment, recognition of significant changes in patient condition, establishment of priorities, and nursing interventions.
  • Provides interventions as ordered by the Medical Doctor, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant
  • Evaluates patient response to intervention and promptly notifies Medical Provider of patient condition whenever necessary.
  • Promotes theteamconcept through interpersonal relationships with patients, families, and medical staff and/or other healthcare providers to coordinate medical and nursing management of patient care.
  • Demonstrates respect for patients’ rights, privacy, and serve as a patient advocate.
  • Comply withall departmental and organizational policies and procedures in addition to regulatory requirements andparticipatein corporate/department safety and quality activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska or multi state licensure in a nurse licensure compact state.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)required
  • Certifications inAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)andPediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)preferred.
  • Minimum ofAssociates Degree in Nursingrequired.Newgradsaccepted.
  • Bachelor’sof Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Skilled in practical use of electronic systems for patient care and documentation.
  • Strong organizationalskillsandability tomulti-task.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, anddemonstratethe highest level of service and response.
  • Comply withall departmental and organizational policies and procedures in addition to regulatory requirements andparticipatein corporate/department safety and quality activities

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal to light office work which includes the ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands tooperatecomputer keyboard, phone, and various office equipment.

Cognitive requirements:

  • Reading, writing, calculating

  • Works with minimal to no supervision

Language Requirements:

  • Mustpossessthe ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
