The Clinical Nurse I job integrates technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet the needs of the patient and family. This role assists the healthcare team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort. It provides direction, education, and begins to develop leadership skills at the unit level. The job involves delivering and accurately documenting direct, age-specific care based on medical orders and an interdisciplinary plan of care. It also includes safely administering prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and interactions.
The Clinical Nurse II role demonstrates mastery of clinical skills and begins to apply this knowledge to a specific patient population. It involves recognizing changes in patient conditions and intervening appropriately, mobilizing resources to meet patient and family needs, providing direction and education, and assuming leadership responsibilities at the unit level. Responsibilities include delivering and documenting age-specific care and safely administering medications.
The Clinical Nurse III role demonstrates advanced clinical knowledge at the unit level and applies this to a specific patient population.
