Overview

Clinical Nurse - PICU – Location: Phoenix, AZ. Department: PCH-MAIN | CA 6. Shift: Mon-Fri, Sat, Sun, Days vary, Shifts vary, 12am-12am. Category: Nursing. Posting #: 823897. Employee Type: Varies. Position Summary

Seeking an experienced RN with at least 1 year of experience for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The PICU is a 48-bed critical care unit delivering patient- and family-centered care for children of all ages. It treats acute and complex life-threatening conditions, including trauma, transplant, neurological disorders, and a broad range of critical medical disorders. Clinical leadership is available on both days and nights to provide ongoing support. The PICU environment requires strong decision-making, excellent communication and teamwork, and the ability to work in a fast-paced setting.

Position Duties

  • Completes nursing assessment of patient conditions (age- and condition-appropriate) including physical, psychological, social, developmental, and educational factors to determine initial and ongoing care plan alignment with policy and unit guidelines.
  • Continually evaluates patient responses to care, teaching, and discharge plans. Documents progress and shares observations with the healthcare team and families to ensure clear understanding of patient status and needs.
  • Contributes to team goals by performing activities within established parameters to ensure compliance with medication, storage, and documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provides orientation to unit, hospital systems, and processes for patients and family members.
  • Supervises patient care activities of assigned team members, delegates appropriately, and provides timely feedback to maintain patient safety, infection control, and care quality.
  • Collaborates with the patient care team and families to establish and implement the plan of care, participates in rounds and care conferences as appropriate.
  • Supports a positive learning environment by modeling best practices and patient-centered care; provides mentorship and clinical instruction to students and new staff.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as requested.

Position Qualifications

Education

  • Two year (ADN) degree in nursing, a four year degree (BSN) in nursing, or a Diploma Nursing degree
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or currently enrolled in an RN to BSN program (required)

Experience

  • At least 1 year of working experience as a Clinical Nurse outside of clinical (education) exposure (required or preferred per job listing)

Additional Requirements

  • Current State of Arizona RN license or a multistate compact license or the ability to establish licensure prior to start date
  • Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association prior to start date
