MISSION STATEMENT

SUMMARY

The Mohs Surgery Outpatient Clinical Nurse manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating, and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care.

TRIAGE Nurse will assist in covering and triaging patient, other care team calls and resolve within allotted times.

Mohs Surgery Provide nursing care and teaching to patients undergoing Mohs surgery, excision, biopsies and other dermatological procedures. duties included, but not limited to patient vitals, assessments, medication administration, assisting with procedures, pre op and post teaching, wound care and documentation. Provide coverage to other providers in clinic in the absence of assigned clinical nurse/MA. Late and staggered shifts coverage are required.

MD Anderson Cancer Center has a Clinical Nurse opportunity in the Mohs Surgery unit. The ideal candidate will be a licensed RN with at least two years of clinical nursing experience. Procedural/surgical skills are preferred.

Shift: 7:00 am - 530 pm - 10-hour shifts Monday-Friday with late days. Rotating days off.

Key Functions:

• Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area.

• Assesses patient's needs for nursing care and other services, using clinical skills and visual, aural, and analytical abilities.

• Collaborates with physicians, other services, the patient, and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes.

• Integrates knowledge of age-specific care needs, principles of oncology practice, institutional goals and standards and current professional practice standards in providing care for patients.

• Improves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies.

• Participates in data collection for current studies.

• Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures, and managing emergencies.

• Assures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education, and coordination of services.

• Acts as a patient and family advocate to uphold patient rights.

• Organizes and prioritizes work of patient care team; trains, coaches, and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.

EDUCATION:
Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Preferred: Bachelor's of Science in Nursing.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: None.
Preferred: Two years of clinical nursing experience. Procedural/surgical skills are preferred.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Required: Clinical Nurse Residency Program. Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification if working in the following department: ASC Post Anesthesia (600761). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if working in the following departments: ASC Post Anesthesia (600761) or Pedi - Child & Adolescent Center (113200).

All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
