Job summary

Albany Med Health System is seeking a Clinical Nurse for the Med/Surg Float Pool at 43 New Scotland Avenue, Albany. The role involves delivering nursing care across medicine, post-surgical, and emergency departments, coordinating plans of care and ensuring safe transitions toward discharge.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a professional nursing program with a Diploma, Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree.
• Current NYS Registered Nurse license.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Minimum 1–3 years of clinical RN experience; telemetry or ICU experience preferred.
• Commitment to continuing education and quality improvement.

Responsibilities

• Implements physician orders, administers medications, starts IVs and performs treatments.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to assess patients' conditions.
• Assesses patient needs and plans of care; directs care during transitions to discharge.
• Provides primary and emergency care for injuries and illnesses as needed.
• Collaborates with the nursing team to create and update the Plan of Care.
• Directs ancillary staff and maintains professional nursing standards.

The Clinical Nurse is responsible for the delivery and coordination of patient care provided by the caregiving team.
