Job summary

Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY is seeking a part-time Clinical Nurse for the Med Surg Float Pool. The nurse will float to medicine, post-surgical, and emergency departments, manage medication administration, IVs, and treatments, and coordinate patient care with the care team.

The role requires NYS RN licensure, BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, and 1–3 years of RN experience, with telemetry/ICU experience preferred. Night shift availability in a Float Pool setting is expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a professional nursing program (Diploma/ADN/BSN).
• Current NYS Registered Nurse license.
• Maintains BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• 1–3 years of clinical RN experience; telemetry or ICU preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implements physician orders, administers medications, starts IVs, performs treatments and tests, documents care.
• Assesses and interprets diagnostic tests to evaluate patient conditions.
• Coordinates and directs nursing care to create a Plan of Care.
• Provides primary and emergency care for injuries and illnesses as needed.
• Collaborates with the nursing team to ensure quality patient care and transitions.

The Clinical Nurse is responsible for the delivery and coordination of patient care provided by the caregiving team. S/he assures that competent, compassionate patient care is uniformly provided to customers including referring facilities, hospital staff and patients in the inpatient, ambulatory, and community settings.
