Job summary

Pennock Hospital in Hastings, NE is seeking a Nurse Manager to lead the Women Infant Svcs Unit OB Delivery Postpartum. You’ll oversee 15–25 RNs, develop policies, and drive quality outcomes while ensuring a safe, inclusive environment.

Required: a Bachelor’s in nursing and RN license; leadership experience and BLS. Master’s preferred. This full-time day shift role offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
  • Master's degree in nursing preferred.
  • 2 years of relevant clinical nursing experience required.
  • 1 year of relevant informal leadership experience required for internal applicants, may include but are not limited to: Charge Lead Nurse, Charge Nurse responsibilities, leadership on behalf of unit/site/system at Shared Governance Council.
  • MI Registered Nurse license required.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • NRP required within six months.
  • Note: Nurse Managers in inpatient and outpatient units are required to obtain their Nursing Administration or Professional/Specialty Certification within 12 months of assuming the role.

  • Key responsibilities include unit-based goal setting, program development, fiscal management, resource allocation, standards of care, policy and procedure development and interpretation, human resource development, performance improvement, supports a culture of safety and maintenance of interprofessional collaborative relationships.

  • 7 Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) rooms
  • 2 triage rooms
  • A dedicated Cesarean-section operating room located within the unit

Guided by a midwifery model of care, our team supports approximately 300 births annually.

The Nurse Manager will lead a highly engaged team of 15 to 25 registered nurses and play a key role in advancing clinical excellence, patient experience, quality outcomes, and team development. While Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) experience is preferred, we welcome candidates with demonstrated leadership experience, including Charge Nurse, Supervisor, Assistant Nurse Manager, or similar progressive leadership roles.

  • Master's degree in nursing Preferred.
  • 2 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Required.
  • 1 year of relevant demonstrated informal leadership experience required for internal applicants, may include but are not limited to: Charge Lead Nurse, Charge Nurse responsibilities, leadership on behalf of unit/site/system at Shared Governance Council Required.
  • MI Registered Nurse license Required.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required.
  • AAP Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Required within six months.

Note: Nurse Managers in inpatient and outpatient units are required to obtain their Nursing Administration or Professional/Specialty Certification within 12 months of assuming the role, or within 12 months of achieving eligibility to sit for the exam if not eligible upon hire into the role.
