Job summary

OhioHealth is seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager to lead designated units with a strong emphasis on evidence-based patient care, safety, and operational excellence. Responsibilities

• Assists the Manager in accountability for ongoing delivery of patient care in area(s) of responsibility; ensures application of the nursing process by RNs; documents care in the medical record; coordinates with other disciplines; supports continuous quality improvement; ensures safe nursing practices.
• Assists Manager with planning, assessing, implementing and evaluating patient care as appropriate to department/unit.
• Assists Manager with staffing plans, scheduling and allocation of staff for volume and patient care needs.
• Coordinates nursing care with other health care disciplines across the continuum of care.
• Maintains daily unit operations including staffing, patient visits, admissions, discharges and transfers; serves as a resource to staff.
• Participates in recruitment, selection, retention and evaluation of personnel; conducts performance evaluations and ensures orientation and ongoing education.
• Assists planning and contributing to fiscal management of the unit by utilizing resources efficiently; supports development and implementation of services.
• Practices with medical staff and interdisciplinary team to support collaborative clinical management; participates in relationship-building across departments.
• Contributes to staff development through orientation and continuing education; identifies learning needs of staff.
• Participates in data collection and analysis for quality and process improvement at unit level; provides leadership through clinical practice and teaching.
• Encourages staff attendance at meetings and education programs; supports shared decision making; ensures RN participation in unit governance and hospital committees.
• Continues professional self-development and education; pursues professional certifications; addresses diversity and cultural competency.
• Serves as patient safety coach and assists manager in addressing safety and quality outcomes.
• Supports evidence-based practice by staff involvement in evaluative activities at the department level.
