Job Description: Clinical Nurse - Labor & Delivery

The clinical Nurse contributes to creating a compassionate and caring environment for patients, families, and colleagues through displays of kindness and active listening. Recognizes and appreciates that each employee’s work is valuable and contributes to the success of the Mission.

Responsibilities:

1. Implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, perform treatments, procedures, and special tests, and document treatment as required by policy and regulations.
2. Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patients' conditions.
3. Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care rendered.
4. Apply sound nursing judgment in care management decisions.
5. Provide primary and emergency care for injuries and illnesses.
6. Administer over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered.
7. Collaborate with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
8. Direct and guide ancillary personnel and maintain professional nursing standards.
9. Cross-train in High Risk Antepartum Unit (D6N) and Labor and Delivery (D6E).
10. Be routinely assigned to work on either unit (D6N/D6E).
