Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Clinical Nurse II for the Duke Cardiology of Cary location to join a collaborative healthcare team. You will provide direct and indirect patient care, participate in procedures, and support a high standard of nursing practice.

As an integral team member, you will handle patient intake, vaccinations, and education, while documenting in EHR and providing unit leadership as needed. A BSN/ADN and NC RN licensure enable success in this role.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited BSN, ADN, or nursing diploma program.
• Current RN license in North Carolina or eligibility for licensure.
• BLS certification required; ACLS within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum 12 months of clinical nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient intake: vitals, assessments, education for patients/guardians.
• Administer medications and vaccines per protocol and orders; labeling specimens.
• Document in EHR and NCIR; ensure accuracy of records.
• Serve as charge nurse on shift after orientation and triage calls.

Job Summary

We are seeking a CLINICAL NURSE II to be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform patient intake including: obtaining vital signs, administering survey tools, conducting educational assessments (patients/guardians), assisting patients with ambulation/toileting, reviewing patient medications
• Completing procedural tasks including: administering vaccinations and medications according to protocols and provider orders, specimen collection and correct labeling, assisting with clinic-performed procedures (including EKGs, 6- minute walks, orthostatic blood pressures), provide patient/family education, bill for nursing procedures.
• Documentation in electronic health record and NCIR.
• Once oriented to the role: act as charge nurse on a shift by shift basis including providing unit leadership, ability to triage patient phone calls/EHR messages and document appropriately.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein

Job Eligibility Requirements

• Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
• All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within seven years of their start date.
• Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required.
• Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certified
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire date

Job Hours

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
