Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System seeks a Clinical Nurse II in Maryland to provide patient care and family teaching under moderate supervision, using the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care across neonate through adult-geriatric patients.

The role requires an accredited nursing degree, Maryland RN license, BLS, medication certification, ACLS and NALS (or eligible), and telemetry rhythm competency. Orientation and CN I proficiency are expected before advancing.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Currently licensed as an RN in Maryland.
• Successful completion of required hospital, nursing and unit orientation; including BLS and medication certification.
• ACLS required (PACU, ICCU, ED), NALS required (Obstetrical-Nursery) or eligible within 6 months.
• Telemetry Nurse must pass a basic arrhythmia exam and recognize critical rhythms.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and patient/family teaching.
• Organize and implement safe, therapeutic and efficient patient care in controlled settings with predictable outcomes.
• Care for patients from neonate to adult-geriatric.

Job Requirements

Functioning under moderate supervision, the Clinical Nurse II is, at minimum, a competent practitioner. This level clinician utilizes the nursing process in providing patient care and patient/family teaching. The practitioner organizes and implements safe, therapeutic, and efficient patient care in controlled settings with predictable outcomes. Patients served may include neonate through adult-geriatric.

Work Experience

To qualify for the position, the candidate must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing; currently licensed as an RN in the State of Maryland; successful completion of required hospital, nursing and unit orientation, including but not limited to BLS certification and medication certification required. Maintains criteria for and has demonstrated proficiency at the Clinical Nurse I level and meets eligibility requirements for Clinical Nurse II. ACLS required (PACU, ICCU, ED), NALS required (Obstetrical-Nursery) or eligible for completion of course within six (6) months from date in position. Certification in specialty is preferred. Telemetry Nurse must pass a basic arrhythmia exam and have ability to recognize critical rhythms and seek intervention.
