Job summary

The University of Maryland Medical System Corporation seeks a Clinical Nurse II to deliver nursing care across patient ages, using the nursing process, and to teach patients and families. This role requires organized, safe, efficient care in controlled settings with predictable outcomes.

The position covers neonatal to adult-geriatric populations; candidates must hold Maryland RN license, complete orientation and certifications (BLS, medication), ACLS/NALS as specified, and pass arrhythmia exams

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Currently licensed as an RN in Maryland.
• ACLS required (PACU, ICCU, ED) or eligible within 6 months.
• NALS required (Obstetrical-Nursery) or eligible for completion within six months.
• Telemetry nurse must pass a basic arrhythmia exam and recognize critical rhythms.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care using the nursing process and patient/family teaching.
• Organize and implement safe, therapeutic, and efficient patient care.
• Care for patients from neonate to adult-geriatric across settings.

Job Requirements

Functioning under moderate supervision, the Clinical Nurse II is, at minimum, a competent practitioner. This level clinician utilizes the nursing process in providing patient care and patient/family teaching. The practitioner organizes and implements safe, therapeutic, and efficient patient care in controlled settings with predictable outcomes. Patients served may include neonate through adult-geriatric.

Work Experience

To qualify for the position, the candidate must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing; currently licensed as an RN in the State of Maryland; successful completion of required hospital, nursing and unit orientation, including but not limited to BLS certification and medication certification required. Maintains criteria for and has demonstrated proficiency at the Clinical Nurse I level and meets eligibility requirements for Clinical Nurse II. ACLS required (PACU, ICCU, ED), NALS required (Obstetrical-Nursery) or eligible for completion of course within six (6) months from date in position. Certification in specialty is preferred. Telemetry Nurse must pass a basic arrhythmia exam and have ability to recognize critical rhythms and seek intervention.

• Pay Range: $42.35 - $57.40 per hour.
