Job summary

Phoenix Children’s is hiring a clinical nurse for the Plastic/Hand Surgery clinic. This role will be mainly at our Thomas campus, but will involve travel to our East Valley and Scottsdale locations.

The ideal nurse will have a minimum of 2-3 years’ clinical experience working with surgeons, have outstanding multitasking abilities, and must be able to develop/create detailed surgical care plans. The incumbent will meet with patients to discuss surgery plans, create orders, and detailed follow up

Qualifications

• Two year (ADN) degree in nursing, a four year degree (BSN) in nursing, or a Diploma Nursing degree. (Required)
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or currently enrolled in RN to BSN program. (Preferred)
• Pediatric experience (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Meet with patients to discuss surgery plans, creating orders, and detailed follow up and care plans.
• Develop/create detailed surgical care plans for patients.
• Triaging calls from patients/families to discuss surgery, patient education on the procedure and follow up calls after surgery.
• Coordinate patient health care with the team to ensure evidence-based nursing care across the continuum.

This role is very fast paced in meeting with the patients in clinic with the surgeon, and triaging calls from patients/families to discuss surgery, patient education on the procedure and follow up calls after surgery. This position is M - F, 8 AM - 4 PM, NO holidays, NO weekends and NO call!!!!

This position, in collaboration with the healthcare team, patient, and family, coordinates and promotes patient health utilizing evidence-based practice in the delivery of professional nursing care across the care continuum. This position advocates for the patient and family adhering to nursing and medical plans of care, regulatory standards, and organizational values.

Education

• Two year (ADN) degree in nursing, a four year degree (BSN) in nursing, or a Diploma Nursing degree. (Required)

Experience

• Pediatric experience. (Preferred)

Certifications

• Current State of Arizona RN license or an RN license from a compact state with multistate privileges or the ability to establish licensure according to Arizona law prior to start date. (Required)
• Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association. (Required)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) certification may be required within 90 days of entry into the position for select departments. (Preferred)
