Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is seeking a GI Motility RN to support our Manometry program, caring for adults with GI motility disorders. This full-time outpatient role involves collaboration with providers to coordinate care and develop personalized treatment plans.

The position offers a Monday-Thursday schedule (4 nine-hour shifts, 6:30am-4:00pm) with no weekends, no holidays, and no on-call.

Qualifications

• RN with GI, Endoscopy, ICU, OR or Critical Care experience.
• Nursing Diploma/Associate's required; BSN preferred.
• Current RN license.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family centered care; educates on home care and medications.
• Participates in patient safety, quality and regulatory activities; supports professional development.
• Develops, implements and documents plans of care with defined goals with interprofessional team; communicates across continuum of care.
• Uses nursing assessments to address physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs; respects patient values and preferences.
• This is a safety-sensitive position; must maintain constant alertness to ensure safe care.

The GI Motility RN will support our specialized Manometry program, caring for adult patients with a variety of gastrointestinal motility disorders. These conditions occur when the muscles responsible for moving food through the digestive system do not function as they should and can affect the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, large bowel, and sphincter.

This role offers the opportunity to be part of a small, collaborative team where your contributions can make a meaningful impact. You will work closely with providers and colleagues to coordinate care, support patients throughout their treatment journey, and help develop personalized care plans tailored to each patient's unique needs. Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
